Messages can occupy a lot of space on your iPad, especially if you text a lot and receive media attachments. All that takes up storage. Apple has added an auto-delete feature to Messages in iOS 8.
Here’s how to auto-delete old Messages on your iPad running iOS 8:
Open Settings. Scroll down, tap on Messages on the left. Under the label that says Message History, tap on Keep Messages. You have three options: Forever (doesn’t delete message ever, it’s the default); choose 30 days.
